Doppelgängland

Mick Jones and Stephen Mangan.

When I was watching the first episode of Free Agents and when I was watching an episode of Would I Lie To You?, my new panel show obsession (whatever, David Mitchell is awesome, ok?), that Stephen Mangan was on I would get weirded out regularly because it was like Mick Jones took a time machine at the height of The Clash's fame, when they weren't so stringent about hair length, traveled to the future and decided to do some comic acting and panel show appearances..

For an example of how they're not alike I was going to say that Mangan didn't seem like the type to (sometimes) front a band but apparently he was in a band. BUT that band was apparently a progressive rock band. So yeah, being in The Clash and being in a prog rock band assures that they fulfill the criteria of looking alike but being different. Although I think Mick Jones would be a lovely Would I Lie to You? guest. Imagine all the true stories he could tell.

Doppelgängland

Fernando Verdasco and Jason Stackhouse.

Ok, this is another jokey one and I might be totally off-base as to whether they actually look alike. But, because the Australian Open is coming up, and I'm re-watching Verdasco's semi-final, I figured I'd put it up. I'm comparing the real person (Verdasco) to the character (Stackhouse) because when I saw Fernando with his Wimbledon hair all I could think was that he looked like a dark haired Jason Stackhouse.

Another pic just for fun:

Doppelgängland

Brad Pitt And Julian Barratt

Both are dashing actors in their 40's who have fathered twins and have temporarily shared similar facial hair (something I obviously think is of great importance). They don't really seem to have much else in common.

I think, if given the opportunity, Julian could do a really good job in more serious, mainstream roles if that's what he wanted. If he'd been in Benjamin Button I might have actually had some desire to see it. Alternatively I can't quite see Brad hanging out in the Zooniverse with Vince Noir. He may like jazz though...

Doppelgängland

Jarvis Cocker and Kanye West

Ok, so this is obviously, mostly, a joke. I just think it's funny that they both grew beards at around the same time. Like if one were to do a trend piece on beards and they were both in it it'd be kind of funny.

Doppelgängland

I basically should have started this blog a year ago. My first bunch of posts are probably going to be kinda dated. I have a bunch of blog ideas backlogged in my brain. This is going to be the innaugural Doppelgängland post, showcasing people who look a lot a like but are very different. The name comes from the Buffy episode where regular Willow meets vamp Willow.

Spider Webb from The Horrors (left) and Chad Rogers from that house selling show (right):

I've never watched the house selling show, I just watch a lot of Bravo and he's pretty inescapable in the promos. He was also mentioned on The Soup a few days ago, which reminded me how similar they look. I doubt though that, haircut aside, they're anything alike. I also doubt chad can do this.

Also Chad was initial evidence for my very wrong prediction that the bowl haircut was going to be big in America this year.
